A GUIDE TO IDENTIFICATION OF SOME COMMON FRUIT FLIES (Bactrocera spp.) (DIPTERA: TEPHRITIDAE: DACINAE)

2004
One of the problems faced by tephritiditologists in India and Asian countries  is the proper identification of fruit fly species (Diptera : Tephritidae). Among the fruit  flies, the genus Bacrmcem is commonly encountered in parapheromonc (methyl eugenol  or cue lure) traps. The objective of this paper is to present a key that would enable one  to easily identify species that usually come into traps. This has quarantine implications  also, as it helps to work out the spread or introduction of fruit flies to new areas.
