The Application of Data Warehouse in Major Selection Analysis for College Students Admitted Without Major Classification

This paper focuses on the behavioral characteristics analysis in major selection for college students admitted without major classification,using Data Warehouse (DW) technology,which provides theoretic and applied support for decision making for college recruitment without major classification. DW star schema analysis is firstly introduced,and general construction steps are shown combined with the major selection application. Then,we emphasis on the logic model design of DW for major selection analysis,based on the information of students in grade 2005,who come from school of economics and management,University of Science and Technology. OLAP (On Line Analytical Processing) is carried out based on the theme of basic factor analysis and grade analysis,and the OLAP analysis conclusion is given.
