Method for producing hyperbranched aliphatic ester

2015
[Problem] To provide a method for producing a hyperbranched aliphatic ester having a low color number on the Hazen scale (APHA) by reacting a hyperbranched aliphatic alcohol and a hyperbranched aliphatic carboxylic acid without a solvent and without a catalyst. [Solution] This production method involves obtaining a hyperbranched aliphatic ester by reacting a hyperbranched aliphatic alcohol and a hyperbranched aliphatic carboxylic acid without a solvent and without a catalyst, and subsequently refining the product by distillation to obtain the hyperbranched aliphatic ester of the present invention. The alcohol and/or the carboxylic acid are C10-30 compounds, and the number on the Hazen scale (APHA) of the ester thus obtained is 1-30. The hyperbranched aliphatic alcohol and the hyperbranched aliphatic carboxylic acid have tertiary carbon atoms and/or quaternary carbon atoms within their respective molecules, and the total number of carbon atoms in each molecule is two or more. Also provided is the abovementioned method wherein the reaction temperature is 180 to 300°C. Also provided is the abovementioned method wherein monovalent alcohol and monovalent carboxylic acid are used.
