On the Auger parameter

Abstract The relationship between the Auger parameter and shifts in Auger and photoelectron spectroscopies is discussed in terms of the total-energy approach. It is shown that the change in the Auger parameter between the gas phase and the adsorbed phase relates not only to chemical shifts but also to an interaction energy between an adsorbate with two holes and metal surfaces.
