The present invention relates to a slip ring for a mechanical seal, comprising a base body (2), a first region at a first end face (2a) of a base body (2) applied layer (3), and a second, on a second face (2b) of the coated base body (2) layer (4), wherein at least one of the layers (3) is designed as a sliding surface of the sliding ring. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for producing such a sliding ring.
