Development of Critical Thinking Skills among Elementary Students: Empirical Study

2012
To be skilled at thinking, one needs to be sufficiently conscious about one's thinking, and to be able to evaluate its effectiveness and improve it over time. Weaving of integrative thinking into school curriculum can make students to find new ways to think about solving problems. Life is too complicated and it is impossible to manage it by way of rules or algorithms. It has always required judgment i.e. skilled and critical thinking. As a competitive world has high expectations and demands, the thinking skill of the students has to be heightened. Therefore, critical thinking is even more important in today's world. Students should have the capacity to work out with their problems with proper thoughts. They should be able to make their own decisions. The understanding of critical thinking will help students to translate their thoughts into action and will also help them to be successful in their decision making process.
