Structure and electrical properties of the composite Na2Ti3O7/ Na2Ti6O13/POMA: A study of the effect of adding POMA

2021
Abstract A biphasic ceramic (Na2Ti3O7/Na2Ti6O13) and a new class of composites (Na2Ti3O7/Na2Ti6O13/POMA) are reported. The POMA content influence on the structural and electrical properties is investigated. Sonochemical method and conventional chemical polymerization are used by synthesized sodium titanates and POMA, respectively. Rietveld refinement showed a mixture of 50% phases for ceramic sample. XRD reveal the presence additional of POMA and hydrogen titanate in the composites. Raman, FTIR and SEM analysis were also used to reveal the presence of POMA in the mixture of sodium titanates. The electrical analysis presents a significant reduction in resistivity and the relaxation time as the polymer content increases. The sample with 50% POMA showed the lowest value of electrical resistance (2.8 × 104 Ω) and relaxation time (0.016 s). Finally, with the polymer introduction in the ceramics matrix, there is an improvement in the semiconductive properties of this new material, making it very interesting for applications in the electronics industry.
