DISCURSO POLÍTICO, MÍDIA E IDEOLOGIA: direito à informação e direito à saúde na pandemia da COVID-19

2020
This article seeks to analyze, from the perspective of Critical Discourse Studies (ECD) by the Dutch linguist Teun A. van Dijk, how the ideological discourse of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, covered by the marks of abuse of discursive power, violates the rights to information and health. In this sense, we will carry out a critical study of Bolsonaro’s main official pronouncements on the Covid-19 pandemic. The reference period for this study will be from March 6 to April 16, 2020, as it was in the meantime that the conflict between Bolsonaro and the former Minister of Health, Luiz Henrique Mandetta developed. This conflict arose from the divergence of opinions of both about the confinement of the Brazilian population, a fact that culminated in Mandetta's departure from the Ministry of Health on April 16, 2020. As for the research instrument, bibliographic research was used. This study demonstrates, at the end, how the dissemination of opinions and news in the health field, when they cease to be guided by democratic principles, can be a threat to public health.
