Thromboembolic disease in pregnancy
1986
Prevention and treatment of thromboembolic disease can have a significant impact on the morbidity and mortality of pregnant women. Knowledge of the pathophysiology, risk factors, and clinical signs and symptoms is the initial key to appropriate intervention. A clinician then must be able to use diagnostic testing and apply current principles of management, such as anticoagulation, to individual patients. The goal as set forth in this review, is to provide a reasonable management approach to thromboembolic disease that complicates pregnancy.
