PERFORMANCE OF THE SLDCENTRAL DRIFT CHAMBER PROTOTYPE

Atwo-cell prototype oftheSLDCentral Drift Chamberhas beentested using C02-isobutane (92%-8%) atoneatmosphere. Average single wireresolution of55itm wasachieved. Charge division tests indicate aresolution forthefinal design of; 0.5% ofwirelength. dE/dxseparation ofir- eshould beuseful up toatleast 7GeV/c.
