Arts and dance. Russian and Soviet Choreographers.Aleksandr Gorsky, Mikhail Fokin, Nikolai Foregger, Kasyan Goleizovsky and Fyodor Lopukhov.

2017
In Russia at the end of the nineteenth century the sphere of experimental choreography was not limited to the environment of dance. It extended into bordering fields of research, from which it drew vital inspiration. Against a complex historical and cultural background, the first modern choreographers emerge: Alexander Gorsky and Mikhail Fokine . The reformers left to their disciples, Nikolai Foregger, Kasyan Goleizovsky and Fyodor Lopukhov, the task of revolutionizing the dance spectacle and also giving it an equal and autonomous research role among the other sister arts. In this paper the most important writings by Foregger, Goleizovsky and Fyodor on dance have been translated.
