Cut Slope Stability Analysis of Rangvamual Landslide Along Aizawl Airport Road, Northeast India

2018
Rangvamual landslide covers an area of 15,316.4 m2, at the western limb of Aizawl anticline along NH-54, the State of Mizoram lifeline and airport road. Landslide experienced in the area after slope modification for building construction followed by rainfalls on June and September in 2014. One building collapsed, landslide debris affected Cold Storage Building, distorted one post of 132 kV power line that connecting western towns of the State, and frequently interrupted traffic for more than 2 years. The landslide can be classed as ‘debris slide and earth slide’ of translational type. Proper mitigation measures are suggested after geotechnical and Limit Equilibrium Method (LEM) analyses.
