Surveys of Aedes aegypti (L) Breeding Habitats by Using Questionaires through school-children

During 1982 and 1983, Surveys of Aedes aegypti breeding habitats by using special preparation of questionaire-sheets through school children at level prathom-sukhsa 6 to Mathayom-sukhsa I were carried out in 38 provinces of every part of the country Total 21,241 of distributed 28,900 sheets, or 73.5% were sent back from 90 schools for analysis. Average Aedes Larval Indicies of the North-easthern part of the country shown the highest values were 91.6, 53.2, 512.8 for HI, CI, BI in 1982 and 91.6, 50.2, 497.8 for HI, CI, BI in 1983 respectively. The lowest average Aedes Larval Indicies shown in the southern part of the country were 75.3, 320.9 for HI, BI and 77, 44.6, 301 for HI, CI, BI at the same period of surveys. Aedes Larval Indicies both from the central and northern part were also high values. In conclusion, every region of the country situation of Aedes aegypti densities were still high and more effort attention must have be done to reduce the high risk of big dengue outbreak at any time.
