A EXPERIÊNCIA DA UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DO PARANÁ NOS PROCESSOS DE BANCAS DE VALIDAÇÃO DE AUTODECLARAÇÃO

2019
This article assesses the Federal University of Parana (UFPR) experience in the implementation of the racial self-identification checking process from 2004 to 2019. In order to do this, we looked at internal documents, the Public Tender Nucleus data, and the checking committees for Afro-descendants, indigenous and the disabled. We were able to conclude that the institutional actions put UFPR as one of the leading universities among a network of higher education institutions committed to the construction of a protocol of procedures that meet regional specificities as well as fulfill national criteria. However, this does not exempt the university either from the challenges inherent to affirmative action policies or from the conflicts related to the implementation of guidelines that guarantee in the higher education system a just inclusion of people with disabilities, as well as ethnic and racial minority groups.
