Power Optimization in WDM Optical Network Using P-Cycle

2021
The concept of green networking is becoming very popular between scientists and researchers and also between service and network providers. The increase in global energy consumption and power consumption of Internet is becoming a concerning issue of today’s scenario. The objective of this paper is to focus on the optimization of power in optical network using pre-configured cycle (P-cycle). As the users are increasing day by day, the network power consumption of the network is also increasing very fast. In this scenario, a small amount of power saving can give better results. Pre-configured (p-cycles) protection cycles are used for designing and operation of mesh restoration network. These cycles protect the network with minimum cost and maximum spare capacity efficiency along with the special quality of ring-like speed mesh-like efficiency. The integer linear programming has been proposed for optimized power of network. We also used optical cross-connect and amplifiers values to calculate the power consumption in a network.
