Of people and toads: Local knowledge about amphibians around a protected area in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest

portuguesO objetivo desta pesquisa foi identificar conhecimento etnozoologico acerca dos anfibios dos moradores das vizinhancas de uma unidade de conservacao, o Refugio de Vida Silvestre (REVIS) de Una, situada em area de Floresta Atlântica, no sul da Bahia, Brasil. Foram realizadas entrevistas semi-estruturadas a um grupo aleatorio de residentes nas imediacoes do REVIS. Foram mostradas imagens correspondentes aos anfibios que habitam no REVIS para reconhecimento. Foi calculado o Valor de Uso (VU) para cada especie dividindo o numero de vezes que uma especie foi mencionada pela quantidade total de entrevistas. A partir das declaracoes nas entrevistas, foram inferidas as relacoes biofilicas segundo Kellert (1993). Foram entrevistadas 40 pessoas (22 homens e 18 mulheres) com idades entre 10 e 82 anos. Semi-structured interviews were performed on a random sample of residents right outside the REVIS limits. Photos of several amphibians that live in the REVIS were also shown for recognition of the regional species. We analysed the use value (VU) of each species, calculating the ratio between the number of times that each species was mentioned and the total number of interviews.
