Analysis of uncommon subtypes of unlineage-associated antigens expression and null cell in adult acute leukemia by immunophenotyping

2006
Objective To study uncommon subtypes of unlineage-associated antigens and null cell expression characteristic of adult acute leukemia immunophenotype and prognosis. Methods 367 patients with AL were investigated with MoAb and indireat immunofluorescence."null cell" type was diagnosed according to EGIL scoring system. Results The incidence of unlineage-associated antigens expression and "null cell" type was 6.78 % in adult AML.The hematopoietic stem/progenitor were expressed in 75 % of the "null cell" type AL cases. In the 10 cases treated, the complete remission(CR)rate was 40 %,"null cell" tyes had significantly higher expression rates of hematopoietic stem/progenitor and Lower CR tate(P 0.05;P 0.05,respectively),compared with those of "non-null cell" type cases observed during the same period. Conclusion AL "null cell" type was related with AML,it had a lower CR rate.Appropriate chemotherapeutic strategy should be further searched.
