Experiences of women and their partner on artificial abortion: a qualitative research

Objective To comprehend women′s experiences after induced abortion and to explore their veritable needs, in order to provide effective evidence for female nursing care after induced abortion. Methods To utilize phenomenological approach of qualitative research, a total of 13 induced abortion women and their partners were selected by purposeful sampling method and involved in interviews in January 2015. Colaizzi analysis method was used to analyze and cope with the information collected from interviews. Results Three themes had been distilled including the shortage of knowledge, artificial abortion choices and postoperative care demands. Conclusions Women after induced abortion have lots of problems in contraception, and individual guidance is the preferred methods for post abortion care. To avoid re-miscarriage is the prior aim for individual guidance. Key words: Abortion, induced; Female; Male companion; Experience; Post abortion care; Qualitative research
