Tribochemical activation of spray-dried ceramic powder

1998
Spray-dried ceramic powder, i.e. material used for the production of ceramic tiles, was ground in a high-energy mill with rings. Characterization of the ground material was performed by using different instrumental methods. It was established that tribochemical activation occurred during the grinding process. The prepared material was sintered at temperatures of 900 and 1000°C. The physico-mechanical properties of the activated material improved significantly, confirming tribochemical activation during the grinding process.
