AN ANALYSIS OF TEACHING WRITING NARRATIVE TEXT THROUGH PEER EVALUATION APPROACH AT EIGHTH GRADE OF SMP N 1 PULOAMPEL By Rina Novianti ABSTRACT Writing is productive skill for writing an indirect communication and the nature of the character is very different from that express by speaking ability. Some students’ of the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Puloampel face some difficulties in writing narrative text such as: hard to arrange writing formulation, could not select the appropriate tenses, and difficult to find the idea about what they want to write. Fortunately, the school has a teacher who implemented peer evaluation approach to improve students’ ability in writing narrative text. It makes the researcher interested in analyzing students’ writing narrative text ability through peer evaluation at eighth grade of SMPN 1 Puloampel. The research methodology used in this research was descriptive qualitative research. The researcher focused on the phenomenon which was chosen and wanted to be understood more deeply. The research subject was eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Puloampel. The subject of this research was VIII A that which consists of 20 students. In analyzing the data, the researcher used Matrix analysis of Miles and Huberman. The result of the research were the process of teaching writing through peer evaluation. During the teacher, there were three students’ work. The first students’ work before using peer evaluation, the second students’ work using peer evaluation and the third student work without peer evaluation.
