Hardenable coating composition containing low molecular weight carbamate component or urea component

1996
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating composition capable of giving coating films having the combination of excellent properties such as excellent durability, hardness, scratch resistance, abrasion resistance and acid resistance. SOLUTION: This hardenable coating composition comprises (A) a multifunctional compound having (1) at least a carbamate or urea functional group, (2) at least one of other functional groups comprising or not carbamate or urea groups, and (c) at least a hydrogen bond-receiving group except hydrogen bond-donating groups [the multi-functional compound excludes acrylic polymers or oligomers having carbamate or urea functional groups additionreacted to acryl skeletons through acrylate ester side chains, polyester polymers or oligomers comprising the polycondensation products of polyol components with polybasic acid components, and polyurethanes comprising the reaction products of polyisocyanate components with polyesterpolyol compounds], and (B) a harden having plural groups capable of reacting with the functional groups of the compound A.
