The relationship between personality characteristics and AIDS related factors of MSM

Objective To understand the personality characteristics and the relationship with HIV-related factors of MSM (Men who have sex with men, MSM). Methods Using the Snowball Sampling method to recruit the people and determine eight people as the seed . To survey the on-site behavior like demographic characteristics, sexual behavior, personality traits and have serological test in a fixed location. Useing EPQ- RSC to measure the personality.Analyzing the data with t test, χ2 test, H test and Logistic regression analysis. Results 402 people were included in the queue. The scores of the tables were P(3.28±1.83), E(8.49±2.57), N(5.02±3.29), L(6.29±2.82). They were higher than the national norm(P<0.01). In temperament, the Sanguine is 33.6%(135/402), Choleric is 28.1%(113/402), Phlegm is 13.9%(56/402), Melancholic is 24.4%(98/402). The multivariate analysis showed that, compared with the Sanguine, the Choleric had independent statistically with the level of education and having received the examination or treatment of sexually transmitted diseases in a year(P<0.05). The Phlegm had independent statistically with marital status, having received peer education in a year, first MSM age, the number of male anal sex in recent six mouths and the health of sexual partners in recent six mouths(P<0.05). The melancholic had independent statistically with marital status, having received the examination or treatment of sexually transmitted diseases in a year and the number of male anal sex nearly a week(P<0.05). Conclusion The temperamental type of MSM has its own characteristics, and has the relationship with AIDS-related factors.The Sanguine has more risks.
