May 2006, Vol. 96, No. 5 SAMJ SAMJ FORUM Victor Leslie Asherson (20.11.1911 - 25.01.2006) Victor Leslie Asherson, one of the oldest family general practitioners in the country, died in Durban at the age of 94. He was born in Ladismith, Cape, the third son of five children whose parents were Lithuanian immigrants. When the family moved to Cape Town around 1917, Victor attended SACS, completing two years of schooling in one as part of an accelerated educational experiment with academically gifted children.
