Character of Fe2+ ion distribution in pyroxenes from eulysite

1971
Abstract Resonance absorption of γ-quanta by Fe 57 nuclei has been investigated in pyroxenes. For a hedenbergite from eulysite of the Mariupol iron ore deposit Fe 2+ ions have been found to occupy not one, as in a typical hedenbergite, but two lattice sites. A quantitative estimate of the Fe content of each site is given. The Fe 2+ distribution among orthopyroxene sites is specified.
