The Cost and Integrated Control Method by Village Volunteers, on Aedes aegypti at Phanus Nikhom District, Chonburi Province

A village scale of 51 houses on community participation in Aedes aegypti control programe was carried out by l0 volunteers of mainly house-wife. The volunteers chose monthly control programe by Abate larviciding, closing water jars with vinyl sheets, clearing out miscellaneous containers and constructed an artificial gyppy fish breeding container from January to December l988. The results showed that they could suppress HI, CI and BI of 54.8%, 77.5% and 77.9% respectively and the positive containers per 100 houses (BI) were reduced from 413.1 to 88.9 containers at the last month with a material cost of 51.3 baht per house per year.
