Flat-Gain Wide-Band Thulium-Based Fiber Laser

We report a design method for flat-gain wide-band all-fiber laser using cascaded bidirectional pumping of multisegment thulium-doped fibers. Experimental demonstration of two-fiber setup achieved the widest reported 3-dB bandwidth of 178nm centered at 1944nm.
