Thus the contraction of the first coordination sphere, together with the increase in the number of atoms in it compared with the "quasi-eutectic" and random distributions of the atoms, indicates that there is appreciable interaction between atoms of different kinds in the iron-- germanium system. O8.188(13)A, ~ = 79.37(5) , space group P2,/b, Z = 2 dinuclear complexes. The experiments were carried out with a crystal with dimensions 0.3  0.3  0.4mm 3, ~R = 0.34. The experiments gave the intensities of 1871 reflections with !FhkZI ~ 3~, measured on a DAR-UMB diffractometer using Mo K~ radiation. The patterns were recorded by the combined m, ~/2m methods with optimization of the measurement of the background. The structure was determined by the heavyatom method, and refined in the anisotropic approximation as far as R = 0.041, using the program Kristall. The hydrogen atoms were located from difference syntheses.
