Measuring arrangement for detecting extreme ultraviolet radiation in the universe

2013
A measuring arrangement (42, 44, 46) for detecting extreme ultraviolet radiation (36) in space has a metal ball (48) with two concentrically surrounding metal grids (52, 54). Each of these electrodes (48, 52, 54) is connected to a voltage source (82, 84, 86) connected. Current measuring means (76, 78, 80) measure the extreme ultraviolet radiation upon impingement flowing (36) flows in response to the applied voltages. After a calibration (102, 103, 104) of the measuring arrangement with a reference spectrum, it is possible to predict the course of unknown spectra by performing an evaluation of a plurality of streams which have been stored during the calibration phase.
