Use of mycotoxin binders in dairy farms: Preliminary results

2014
s / Toxicology Letters 229S (2014) S40–S252 S225 Milk samples were analyzed via ELISA kit. The detection ranged from 5 to 80ppt and with a specificity of 100%. Our results show that 100% of dairy farm samples, had detectable levels of AFM1, all of them were below The Mexican Official Norm (NOM) limits, but 20/52 dairy farms had AFM1 levels that exceeded theCommissionRegulation (EU) limits. The aflatoxin levels found in feed were below the NOM and EU. Even though there are regulations to ensure foodstuff having minimum levels of AFM1; the authorization of feed or food for human or animal consumption depends on whether the NOM or EU regulation is applied. The previous is a real issue in preserving animal or human health. http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.toxlet.2014.06.753
