THREE CASES OF DIGESTIVE TRACT LESIONS DUE TO SCHISTOSOMIASIS JAPONICUM

1989
Recently experienced three cases of digestive tract lesions due to schistosomiasis Japonicum (S.J) are reported, which presented with ileo-cecal abscess, rectal stenosis and rectal ulcer perforation, respectively. The etiologies of them were unknown preoperativelly, and histopathological examination first established the diagnosis of S.J. S.J. has became a rare disease despite an one-time prevalence, but patients in chronic stage of the disease are sometimes found presenting with the most well-known symptom liver cirrhosis, and what we should not forget is that the digestive tract lesion is also involved. In prevalent areas of this disease in the past, if patients suffering from cause-unknown digestive tract lesions, such as stenosis, abscess, ulcer and perforation are found, stool examination, lmmuno-serum examination, CT and echography, rectal and liver biopsy should be done positively for precise diagnosing.
