Process parameters and joint evaluation of self-piercing riveting with half-hollow rivets

Self-piercing riveting(SPR) is a new process without drilling holes between two panels.Direct test method and visual approach were discussed and supplementary opinion was brought forward based on the visual approach.Issues such as die design,rivet dimension selection and their matching with the panels were researched.Thus reference and method of die design was put forward.The SPR rivet quality test was done.And based on the test results,the influence of the die,rivet,and the material property of panels on the rivet quality was analyzed,which shows that the process parameter design method is effective,and can be used as reference for die design.
