HIV/AIDS in Latvia

The course of Latvia’s HIV epidemic has been influenced by the complex political, social, and epidemiological situations created during the transition from a Soviet republic to a newly independent state (May 4, 1991) and then to a member state of the European Union (May 1, 2004).
