Complexes of ditertiary phosphine and arsine oxides with metal ions—I: Tin(IV) halide complexes with oxides of 1,2-ethylenebisdiphenylphosphine/arsine and 1,4-butylenebisdiphenylphosphine/arsine
1969
Abstract Complexes of tin(IV) chloride and tin(IV) bromide with the oxides of 1,2-ethylenebisdiphenylarsine, 1,4-butylenebisdiphenylarsine, 1,2-ethylenebisdiphenylphosphine and 1,4-butylenebisdiphenylphosphine have been prepared. The analytical data indicate 1:1 stoichiometry. The complexes are non-electrolytes in nitrobenzene and appear to be octahedral. A decrease in the PO and AsO stretching frequencies on complex formation shows oxygen to tin bonding in all these complexes. The adducts are white and quite stable in air.
