Permanent magnets in switched motors of airplane electric drives

2003
Promising controllable airplane drives are based on a switched dc electric motor (SDEM), which is a contactless synchronous machine with permanent excitation, a rotor position sensor, and a converter with microprocessor control. The use of highly coercive magnets and mosaic magnetic systems in the SDEM permits the creation of drives capable of replacing the hydraulic drives widely used in airplanes.
