The article presents information on an environmental molecular epidemiological study conducted in Tongliang, China, which indicated that children born in the city in 2002, when a large coal-fired power plant was still operating, have smaller heads, lower scores on developmental tests and higher levels of pollution-related genetic abnormalities than those born a year after the plant closed.
