Helicobacter pylori in oral and stomach of recurrent oral ulcer and peptic ulcer patients

2000
Objective To investigate the relationship between recurrent oral ulcer (ROU) and peptic ulcer (PU) and whether helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection is a direct etiology of ROU.Methods Hp in the oral and stomach mucosa of 48 patients with ROU,50 patients with PU,44 patients with ROU and PU,58 controls was studied by polymerase chain reaction (PCR),anti-Hp fluorescein labelled antibody staining, bacterial culture. Results The respective Hp positive rates in oral cavity were 54.17% , 48.00% , 72.73% , 22.41% ,in stomach were 58.33% , 96.00% ,100%, 31.08% (P 0.01 ).The morphological, biochemical and immunological characteistics of Hp in the dental plaque was similar to those Hp in the stomach mucosal lesion. Conclusion It is illustrated that the relationship between Hp and ROU is close clinically.ROU and PU may have resemble mechanism and Hp may be the direct pathogenic facter of ROU and PU.
