Reconfigurable architecture for smart sensor node based on IEEE 1451 standard

2013
This work proposes a novel reconfigurable architecture for smart sensor network nodes. The architecture is based on the IEEE 1451 standard and was implemented using a Programmable System on Chip (PSoC). The PSoC devices include configurable blocks of analog and digital components, which allow hardware-level re-configuration capabilities. The use of the IEEE 1451 standard methodology ensures the scalability and flexibility of the sensor node. In order to manage re-configurable hardware via IEEE 1451 standard was necessary the implementation of a new Transducer Electronic Data Sheet (TEDS). The proposed architecture was implemented on a PSoC 5LP module and some signal conditioning circuits was implemented in order to test the reconfigurable architecture.
