INVESTIGATION OF IODURIA IN PREGNANT WOMEN FROM VARNA DISTRICT

The authors studied the ioduria as a biochemical indicator in pregnant women from Varna district. Iodine deficiency was assessed according to WHO and ICCIDD criteria and evaluated as mild, moderate, and severe. The clinical status of the female patients was monitored, too. During the pregnancy, thyroid volume as well as the levels of FT4, T3, Т4 and TSH were follow ed-up. The ioduria proved a mild and a moderate iodine deficiency in 35,59 and 52,54 per cent of the pregnant women in Varna district, respectively.
