Comparison of therapeutic effects of biodegradable drug-eluting stent between big and small coronary artery lesions in patients receiving interventional therapy
2009
Objective:To evaluate the safety and clinical effects of Chinese-making Excel biodegradable drug-eluting stent on big and small vessel lesions in patients with coronary artery disease receiving interventional therapy.Methods:212 cases of coronary heart diseases undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with Excel drug-eluting stent including 58 patients with small coronary artery lesions and 154 ones with big vessel lesions. The successful rate of PCI,intraoperative complications and the occurrence of angina, sudden death, main adverse coronary events (MACE) as well as results of coronary angiography during follow-up period from 1 to 18 months were observed and comparatively analyzed. Results:The instant successful rate of PCI in big and small vessel groups was 98.7% and 98.3%,respectively.There were 420 stents implanted into 320 lesions and no severe complications occurred during the procedure. In small vessel group, two case of angina recurred including one diabetes mellitus and the incidence of MACE was 1.8% without any case of myocardial infarction or sudden death. In big vessel group, sudden dearth occurred in a myocardial infarction patient at six hours after PCI,angina occurred in three patients and the incidence of MACE was 0.7%.There was no delayed internal stent thrombosis in both groups. Conclusion:This new Chinese-making Excel biodegradable drug-eluting stent is safe and effective for interventional therapy of small artery coronary lesions and it demonstrates similar curative effects on small and big vessel lesions treated by PCI.
