Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy Skills Acquisition and Procedural Proficiency in Novices Using Virtual Reality

Background: Training within a proficiency-based virtual reality curriculum has been proven to be an effective enhancement to supplement the conventional surgical training schemes that have been stagnant for a significant period of time. In our study, we investigated the time and attempts needed by novices to reach proficiency in laparoscopic cholecystectomy using virtual reality to help add to the literature toward establishing a training curriculum.
