As the lifetime of many subsea wells drilled during the oil boom in 1980-ties comes to the end, there is increased demand for well simulation and workover intervention works. Traditionally this scope of works has been done by drilling vessels and semi-submersible drilling rigs. As the global oil prices continue to decrease the use of dynamically positioned well intervention vessels, rather than mobile drilling units, is becoming more prevalent especially for shorter intervention campaigns and to increase oil recovery from existing subsea wells. These market conditions made well intervention vessels the busiest and the most cost efficient vessels operating offshore.
