Examining the impact of creativity on entrepreneurship intentions: the case of potential female entrepreneurs

2017
The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of creativity on individuals' intentions to undertake entrepreneurial activity, drawing upon existing literature pointing to the importance of certain personality traits on better interpreting entrepreneurial intention. In this vein, an empirical research was conducted, examining the relationship of creativity on entrepreneurial intention. Our sample consists of 233 young female undergraduate students who attended an educational programme on 'entrepreneurship'. The paper offers extensive theoretical implications for the development of the sphere of entrepreneurship, by emphasising creative personality and other important antecedents of entrepreneurial intention, while constituting one among the few studies that aim to shed light on this under-investigated relationship. Moreover, it outlines managerial implications that can foster entrepreneurial activity undertaking among young females, so that efforts of initiatives involved in this process are oriented towards the right direction. Research limitations along with directions for future research are also provided.
