Power storage via thermal storage and air turbine

2013
The invention relates to a method for the power storage by the conversion into thermal energy and subsequent power production by means of a gas turbine set with a compressor (1), expander (6) and electricity generator (8), having at least a first (3) and a second (4) low-temperature storage wherein the electrical energy only in the form of high temperature heat is stored (above the turbine outlet temperature TOT) in a thermal storage (5). As required, a compressed gas from the compressor (1) in a low temperature reservoir (3, 4) is heated to a temperature near the turbine outlet temperature TOT and then in a high-temperature storage (5) is heated with stored heat from stream to a temperature level of at least the turbine inlet temperature TIT and gas turbine (6) supplied to the power generation.
