Retinal detachment in spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita

1993
Retinal detachment is one of the most serious complications of spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita (SEDC). The ocular complication of 12 patients with SEDC was studied. Three patients developed bilateral retinal detachments; five of the six detachments occurred during the period of rapid growth spurt. Our results suggest that patients with SEDC have an increased risk for development of retinal detachment during the period of rapid growth spurt
