Modeling of Equalization in Air Separation by Pressure Swing Adsorption

Abstract The separation of air on carbon molecular sieves was studied, and specially the effect of the equalization step on the process performance. At a constant oxygen concentration, both the specific product and yield increase with the equalization time. A maximum in the specific product is observed. The experimental results are compared to the model predictions, and a very good agreement is observed.
