PROGRESS OF STUDIES ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN UNCOUPLING PROTEIN-2 AND TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS

Research on the relationship between uncoupling protein-2(UCP2) and type 2 diabetes mellitus is now becoming an attractive area in exploring the mechanism of type 2 diabetes mellitus. UCP2,which distributes widely in human body and participates in the regulation of lipid peroxidation,is related to energy metabolism and glucose-induced insulin secretion. Therefore,study on the relationship between polymorphism of UCP2 gene and type 2 diabetes mellitus becomes an important branch of further researches. This article reviews the research progress of the relationship between UCP2 and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
