Upper limit and control scheme for power per channel in optically-amplified WDM systems

Self-phase modulation limits 2.5-Gbit/s channel power to +10 dBm through 6/spl times/90 km of standard fibre. A control scheme is demonstrated in order to keep the channel power smaller than +10 dBm whatever the number of channels.
