Cubic LiV2Sn and trigonal Li11V3Sn4: the first ternary compounds in the Li–V–Sn system

Abstract The crystal structure of the ternary compounds Li 11 V 3 Sn 4 and ∼LiV 2 Sn has been investigated by X-ray powder diffraction. The Li 11 V 3 Sn 4 compound is a superstructure of the Li 13 Sn 5 binary compound, space group P 3 m1, a =0.47082(1) nm, c =1.71004(2) nm. The ∼LiV 2 Sn compound has a BiF 3 structure type, space group Fm 3 m, a =0.621292(1) nm.
