Lightning Discharges Simulation in Overhead Distribution Feeders

Lightning Discharges (LD) occurrence in distribution networks is a usual phenomenon, especially in rural areas feeders. In order that the effects of this intense phenomenon do not cause extensive damage to distribution networks and consumers, simulations tools are necessary to enable the development and design of protection methods. In the present work, models for direct LD simulation of each distribution network element are presented in a concentrated form, as well as their typical values. The ATP-EMTP simulation software was chosen. Thus, this article can be taken as a basis for further studies development on LD. Simulation results present an analysis of the LD incidence at different locations along the feeder.
