Demonstration of Imaging-Free Terahertz Generation Setup Using Segmented Tilted-Pulse-Front Excitation
2021
Conventional tilted-pulse-front (TPF) setups using lithium niobate prisms have been providing the highest terahertz (THz) pulse energies in the low-frequency part of the THz spectrum [1] . However, such setups are limited in energy scalability and uniformity of the THz beam by: (i) Limited interaction length due to angular dispersion, (ii) prism shape of the LN crystal with large (~63°) wedge angle, and (iii) imaging errors. A uniform THz beam is essential for good focusability, required for many strong-field applications, e.g., particle acceleration.
